From the runway to the slopes
Bologna is one of the natural gateways to the Dolomites and the Trentino valleys: land at BLQ and a private car has you at the resort in roughly three to four hours, door to door. We drive to Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, the Val di Sole resorts (Dimaro Folgarida, Marilleva, Mezzana, Pejo), Andalo and Molveno on the Paganella plateau, Canazei and the Val di Fassa, San Martino di Castrozza and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
There is no train up those valleys without changes and connections; with skis, boot bags and a family, the private car is the version of the trip that does not cost you the first day.

Honestly: the train gets you to Trento or Bolzano well, but the resorts sit at the top of side valleys served by local buses on local timetables. From Bologna Airport that usually means three changes with skis in hand. The private transfer is one vehicle from the arrivals hall to the hotel steps, at a fixed price per vehicle.
